As a safety-conscious driver, never be tempted to drive on tires that are worn out or damaged. Tire failure comes out of the blue and causes thousands of road accidents each year. If you detect any of the following issues with your tires, consider heading down to your local Ford dealer right away for a set of top-notch new tires

7 Signs Your Ford Needs New Tires

Diminished Traction

When aging tires become unsafe, you might notice a slight loss of traction when driving on wet road surfaces. Any such momentary loss of gripping strength should be considered a serious warning sign.

All it takes is a split-second of skidding at a crucial moment to cause a collision. So if you sense reduced traction, even if your tires appear to be fine, have them checked without delay.

Shallow Tread Depths

The voids between the treads of tires need to be deep enough to allow water, snow, and other substances into the cracks, keeping the treads firmly against the tarmac. With this in mind, if the tread depths of your tires ever fall below 2/32 of an inch, have your tires promptly replaced.

Shaking and Road Noise

Excessive road noise and vibrations can often result from worn-out tires. The shaking and noise might also be caused by uneven tires, which can often be resolved with tire rotation.

Too Many Cracks

Tires tend to dry out over time and develop cracks, especially in the sidewalls. If these sidewall cracks become excessive, consider replacing the tire, especially if the rubber also becomes brittle, which is a common indication of dry rot.

Bubbles and Blisters

When a tire is impacted by a pothole, it can sometimes form a bubble or blister on the outside. External bubbling or blistering often indicates serious internal damage, which means the tire has to go.

Excessively Old Tires

Always check the recommended maximum age for your particular brand of tire. It’s unwise to keep using tires beyond the manufacturer’s suggested use-by-date, even if they seem to be in good condition.

Unevenly Worn Tires

Tires usually wear down at slightly different rates because of varying pressures at different locations on the car. As mentioned earlier, you can usually rectify this problem with regular tire rotation. But if your tires ever become too uneven in size, you might need to replace the entire set of four.

Rotate Your Tires Often at Your Local Ford Dealer

Routine tire rotation is generally recommended twice a year. This procedure also allows the technician to carefully inspect each tire for signs of hidden damage.
